Vasily Vasilyevich Zuyonok (b. 03.06.1935, v. Machulishcha, Krupki district, Minsk region), a poet. Honorary Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2000). Candidate of Philological Sciences (1973). Member of the Union of Writers of Belarus since 1966.
Published since 1952. Published collections are: "Kresiva" (1966), "Krutayar" (1969), "Syaliba" (1973; Lenin Komsomol Prize of Belarus in 1974), Mauchanne travy (1980; State Prize of the BSSR named after Yanka Kupala in 1982), "Chas Vyartannya" (1981), "Zhniuni dzen" (1985), "Vyznachenne" (1987), "Chornaya lesvitsa" (1992), "Pismy z getaga svetu" (1995) and others. His lyrics reflected the experiences of a contemporary of our difficult time, the memory of war, the interrelation of personality, nature and society, the labor morality and ethics of modern man. Contributed to the development of the Belarusian poetic epic, which is represented by a cycle of poems about the life and heroic fate of the Belarusian people: "Lukam'e" (1983), "Padarožha Vakol Dvara" (1992). He is the author of essays, literary-critical articles, the book "Liniya vysokaga napruzhannya", which is devoted to the analysis of processes in modern Belarusian poetry. He writes for children: compilations "Vyasoly kalaurot" (1965), "Sonechny klubochak" (1972), "Budzem sily nabiratstsa" (1974). Translates poetry from Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Polish and other languages into Belarusian.
Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1989), medals.
